Chatsworth ...Rambling around

That's about it really.
Doesn't sound like much, but ...oh we're tired tonight!

Yesterday we had headed out to a nearby village to find an auto teller. We stopped at one (whose name I can't remember ...) and continuing onward, ended up at the little village of Bakewell.

Yes, it's pretty. Very.  But we thought -
"what ARE we doing? We are living on one of England's most beautiful estates, can come and go as we please ...let's just go back there and enjoy it! So, we did!!!

And today we just enjoyed The Park.

The Park creates the setting for The House ...and what a setting!!

With the autumn colours appearing, these look particularly attractive. Incidentally, there are nearly 400 veteran trees in the Park ...probably over 500 years old. ...Yes - older than Australia!!!

...today, WE were part of the one million visitors a year that The Park welcomes!!!

This morning the fog hanging in the valleys took longer to lift, but we headed out anyway. Bit 'nippy', but walking warms you up.

Everything looked moody and soft.
Then back to our Tower for lunch ...and a bit of a rest.

The fogginess lifted and the sun appeared
 ...so off we went again.

Lots of it to ramble about in, In fact you could walk for miles and miles ...it covers 400 hectares and is enclosed by a 14.5 kilometer (nine miles) stone wall and deer fence. The majority is open to the public.
Livestock are grazed across the Park, which is part of a working farm. It is stocked with sheep, cattle and red and fallow deer. The livestock create the distinctive grazing line that can be seen under the canopy of trees.

There are paths and tracks in many directions, and it's OK to just walk over the fields. But look out for sheep droppings, more than 1000 sheep run in the park! (I love sheep!)

Much warmer now and everything looking awake. Lots of people wandering about, many with dogs - such a beautiful day for a walk.

Finally ...got a buggy ride up to The Stables. This saved us walking UP the hill to them ...and fortified ourselves with a little something, before heading  up through the wood ...and so to our tower ...*phew*!!!
