First on the agenda was Liberty to check on fabric for Rebekah. Sadly the silks were not inspiring. Then on to check out assorted spots in Regent Street, Maddocks Street, St Georges Square, Burlington Arcade, Picadilly and Jermyn Street. The latter was very dangerous as Claire was on duty at Favourbrook and after giving us a huge Yorkshire welcome just happened to point out a simply irresistable waistcoat (or 2). The results were rather predictable. Fortunately we had fortified ourselves as instructed by Tony and Colleen with a pot of tea at Fornum & Mason's so all was well.
While at F & M a silk nightie had caught our attention. You are right Matt - it does fit into a shirt pocket - simply wonderful and a reminder of Pa.
On the way back to the underground station we checked at Hatchards bookshop to see if there was a book for Matt but although they had a book or two we were not sure which of them Matt did not have. Next time we will need to get a shortlist before we leave home.
It was a lovely day to roam about. Cool (about 10 degrees) but sunny and not windy. Very pretty the old place looked especially as Regent Street was having an "Arthur Christmas" - no, really!!! Freaky, but quite a good idea and one we approved of. We have a photo (right) to prove it too!!
Strolled around the garden in St James Square for a short time too.
Off to Europe tomorrow. First stop Amsterdam and our cruise riverboat.
The question of whether the item fitted into a pocket had not even crossed my mind until you mentioned it. However, I am excited for this piece of information so thank you.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're having a good time and (probably) spending far too much money!
Also good to see more pictures of food.
I don't know if it is safe to read any more of your blogs. My feet are itching for an adventure as it is. But do keep them coming. And the food pictures too!! Foreign food is always so tempting.

Had to smile when you said although you were still tired, you still made it into town by ten o'clock, amazing what having a day out shopping as motivation can achieve,!!Love the picture of Jillienne in front of the flower shop, especially love the red appliquéd coat she is wearing, and the "dilly"bag she is carrying, very whimsical, suits her perfectly.(Am sure Arthur will look resplendent in his new waistcoats too!).Clearly you're having a wonderful time,am really enjoying following your travels.Love from Wilma.x
